How to share sound from iPhone to two earphones

iOS 13 and iPadOS , which will be released in the fall, make it much easier to share earphones with friends thanks to new features.

Of course, there is a hand called “Use two earphones by two people“, but it is not the best way to listen to music or watch videos. Both people can only hear one sound.

You can easily get a 3.5mm audio splitter, but I’m wondering if you can enjoy it with your friends this way.

The new iOS (and iPadOS) audio sharing feature uses Bluetooth to split the audio between two different devices.

The method depends on the sharing method (details will be described later), but either method requires AirPods or Powerbeats Pro wireless earphones and one of the following devices (using iOS 13 or iPadOS): It becomes.

Supported devices

  • iOS 13: iPhone 8, 8 Plus, X, XR, XS, or XS Mini, or iPod Touch (7th generation
  • iPadOS: iPad Pro 11 inch, iPad Pro 12.9 inch (2nd generation or later), iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad mini (5th generation)

How to share sound to two earphones on iOS13 and iPadOS

If the official version is released within the year, there are technically two ways to share audio on iOS 13 and iPadOS.

The first method, which is not yet supported in the beta version, explains how it works.

Part 1: Bring your device closer together for audio sharing

  1. While playing using an app such as Apple Music or YouTube on one iOS / iPadOS device, bring the other iOS / iPadOS device closer
  2. A pop-up will appear on both devices . Tap “Share Audio”
  3. You can now share audio between two iPhones / iPads. The volume can be adjusted separately for each device.

Part 2: Pairing devices with Bluetooth

The second is a bit less smart, but it can also be used with the current iOS 13 beta.

In the official version of iOS 13 and iPadOS, you can also connect two Bluetooth headphones to one device to share audio.

  1. Set two Bluetooth headphones to pairing mode (because the method differs depending on the model, if you don’t know, check the manual or the Internet).
  2. Select “Settings”> “Bluetooth” on the iOS 13 / iPadOS device to be used for playback .
  3. Tap the name of the unpaired device and connect the two headphones.
  4. Now you can play the same audio on two headphones simultaneously. However, please note that volume and playback can only be controlled with an iPhone / iPad
